Frequently asked Questions

Congratulations on your engagement, and welcome to Ruth Milliam Bridal Couture! Here you will find some frequently asked questions and we hope these answers will help you with a general idea of what to expect from your appointments and fittings.


How Do Bridal Appointments Work?

All appointments are with the designer herself, Ruth Milliam. Where she will guide, and inspire you to create your dream dress. You will be greeted with a glass of bubbles and cupcakes for you and your guests, as we hope to make your experience very memorable in your bridal journey. Your appointment will be in our idyllic barn boutique lasting 2 hours as there is no limit to the number of gowns you can try on.


Is there an appointment charge?

We are open Monday to Saturday 10am-6pm

We do also offer Sunday appointments 10am-4pm

Please be aware that our appointments require a £25 non-refundable fee to confirm your appointment.

How many people can I bring to my appointment?

We don’t have a limit on how many people you may bring with you to your appointment as we have a large boutique. We do however suggest an average of 4 people per bride as this way you can focus on choosing the right dress for you.


How long do your dresses take to make?

On average, we require 6-9 months’ dependant on the design of your wedding dress and overseas weddings may require a longer time.

We can accommodate brides on a strict time scale of 3-4 months however we will require a 25% rush fee.


Can I make changes to any of the dresses?

As all the dresses are bespoke made, are samples are very adaptable and interchangeable. All changes that you would like to make will be advises and guided by Ruth.


How much are the gowns?

Depending on the style, design and level of beadwork you choose dresses will start from £3500


How and when do I pay for the gown?

We accept, visa, mastercard, american express all major credit and debit cards for gowns. We require a 50% non-refundable deposit when the design of your gown has been finalized, 25% at the first fitting and last 25% on collection. All our dresses are hand made too order so we do not supply refunds, exchanges, returns or credit.  Sadly we do not accept paypal or cheques.


When will, my fittings be?

Your fitting appointment will be based over 3 to 4 fittings which will varies between the 6-9-month dress production time.


What should I bring with me?

We do have a small selection of shoes with us in the boutique, but we recommend you bring a comfortable pair with you as your appointment will be two hours long, possibly something to tie or hold your hair back if you have long hair.


What underwear should I wear?

Seamless nude underwear is advised along with a nude strapless bra if required.


Do you have accessories and veils I can try on with my dress?

Yes, we have a large range of accessories and veils, these are hand custom made to order. Within your two-hour appointments you may want to allow time to try these on.


Do you do bridesmaids dresses?

We will be opening out couture boutique February 2017, so it is possible that we could do bespoke bridesmaid dresses.


Can I order from abroad? 

We do take international overseas brides orders, where we will send you a measurements list. In the past we have had overseas brides who have flown over for at least one of their fittings with us however if you are unable to do this we can ship to your desired address and you can get the dress fitted in your own country.
